Please Help: Can I disable MOVE? but keep COPY?
« on: June 22, 2004, 09:15:47 pm »

I copy a lot of pics to certain directories on a web server so that it can create photo galleries ... and its very common that me (or my wife) hit MOVE instead of COPY ... and we dont notice ..

For my sanity ... is there a trick to disable this option ?

Let me know ..

Thanks,
Andrew

I would love this - an unintended move instead of copy is one of the most destructive and likeliest accidents.

I have no solution but I cannot agree more with this request. Copy is a very daily operation. (i.e. copy your daily doze of music to your laptop and go !, or copy to to direct cd formatted disc).

MOVE is dangerous. Me hates move. For one thing, the directory structure may not be preserved. You may have supporting materials in your directory that are not moved.

Dear nice people of MC, PLEASE put move and copy to the to different corners of MC with longest distance between them.

Actually the OPTION of disabling move seems like a good idea ;)

Or just "move" it somewhere else .. or a nice confirmation screen .. or something that isnt one-click permanent!

Can't the windoze default behavior be used?

Defaulting to move if the same drive or copy if a different drive, overrides with Ctrl & Shift.

Many people should be used to this.
