Analysed Replay Gain On All - Except One???
« on: November 11, 2002, 02:11:21 am »

Greetings - I can't believe it myself ...

The song is "One Last Kiss" - by Billy "Crash Craddock, not that that should matter.  It was downloaded from the Internet & plays fine = no prob's.

I tried converting it to APE, then WAV (within MJ), then tried Goldwave & converted it to WAV there too ... but nothing worked.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I get Replay Gain to work on this one?

I'm going to download it again ... That's all I can think of ... but it would be nice to know exactly why MJ won't even look at it.

Cheers - Rusty.

did you uncheck skip already analyzed?

i have had it analyze part of the mp3 stick some data in it and forget the rest (or it may have been left over from a early ver 8 analyze).

Is it possible that it was encoded at a really low bitrate or not stereo?  I've encoded some tracks that are just speech at low mono bitrates, and they are always skipped over by the Replay Gain analyzation.

Thanks for the responses ...

To answer - Yes the SKIP was turned off, then I tried it on etc, but it did no good.

When you download an MP3 how would you know if it's Stereo or Mono?  And I always go for a bit rate of at least 128 kbps or higher.

I know there is a REPLAY GAIN Guru at MJ Headquarters, but it appears that he hasn't read this thread ... I was hoping he would have some answers.

Cheers & thanks to all who have responded - I'll keep trying.

Rusty - Listening to the Zombies = Great band & generally overlooked.

Zombies
They first lp is one of the records i still play often , and this since 30 years -or more?-
They did more than this one ,maybe better than this one
But it is the one i am in love with.

You may use EncSpot to see if your song in mono

I have had 2 issues with Replay Gain in the past.
1 - using Huge Ammounts of memory - This now appears fixed. (It only happened if you tried to do  lots at a time (ie 1000's)

2 - Skipping Files - I solved this when i discovered that the 3 files were for some reason at 80 kbps.  I deleted these tracks re ripped at 320 and hey presto they were fine.

I would suggest checking either the bitrate for rogues (just sort your entire library by bitrate) and then re rip and try again.
