I'm a newbie here and have never tried what I describe below:

I am simply trying to convert wav files to mp3.  When I do so, I get an mp3, but it is compressed down to 1/8 of the time of the original file, so the mp3 plays 8 times faster in MJ.  Needless to say, this is less than useful (I'm recording some teleclasses as dss files, then converting to wav (the only option I have with the software that comes with the dss recorder)), then trying to convert them to usable mp3's.

I'm using MJ 8.0 and simply going to Tools-->Convert Format, selecting 'MP3 Encoder' with a 'quality' of 32.  As far as I know, doing this will have me using the mp3 encoder that comes with MJ.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/solutions.
