Inconsistent Ripping Process
« on: June 29, 2004, 08:43:58 pm »

I didn't want to add this to the general debate on Rip Workflow (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=20443) because this seems to be a bug, I think.  (I'm not very programming-literate).

I've been ripping a large number of CDs, and after each CD has finished, it is ejected and MC automatically switches to a 'Recently Ripped' search in Media Library; that's all fine.  The Action Window shows 'Rip Progress', with the option to 'Click here to restart ripping' and this is where the problem is; sometimes, when I put another CD in the drive, the CD automatically starts ripping without waiting for me to click (which is not good); and sometimes it *does* wait...

I'm 99% sure that I haven't done anything different each time.

Anyone know what's going on?

 ?

Thanks in advance...

I don't no answer to your question, but you should upgrade to 10.0.149 immediately. Read my comments in the "Lossless WMA without Normalize?" thread:

... What about files ripped with MC10.0.148? If I understand correctly decoding engine is included in the process. Files are first saved to wave and then converted to the end format.

I think there should have been a clear warning to users of 146-148, that the bug can chop files on disk. All the discussion about the bug before the 149 release was only about playback.

Check what action you have selected for insert CD in Options > Devices.

Hi Matt - All media insert actions are 'do nothing', with 'ask me each time' deselected...
