De-Install Media Center
« on: July 05, 2004, 12:02:41 pm »

Greetings:

I just downloaded MediaCenter to try it out on my girlfriend's computer, but it won't install, since she's running Windows NT.  So now I need to pull the entire thing out and go back to Media Jukebox.

Anything I need to know...?  There seems to be a registry somewhere that's interfering with re-installation of MJ...

Thanks...

Okaaayyyy...

Then why does it "say" it doesn't support Windows NT and give me a list of the ones it DOES support...?

(Hey, I'd rather keep it than undo it, so any help will be headed in the right direction...)

don't know why on your system here is what is listed for the program

maybe you need to download the newer microsoft installer and that was required at one time. not sure if they still use it.

"...newer microsoft installer..."?

Is that a Microsoft product, or JRiver...?

What version is it? Many current programs don't work with Windows NT, if it is not NT4 with service pack 6a.

Regarding the version...  I'll have to get back to you on that... I'm not at her place now.

Thanks...  I'll be at her place in a couple of hours...

thats true, if it does not then the requirements page should be changed to reflect that.

Yes.... 4.0 we already knew. What she/you need to determine is which service pack she is running...if any. You/she can download the latest...which is service pack 6a from the Microsoft website.

Service pack 6...  I'm guessing that 6a is subsequent to 6...

I'll have her check the Microsoft site...

Thanks...

Media Center requires Win98 SE / Win2k.  It's no longer compatible with NT.

However, the installer should clean itself up if install didn't finish.  So I don't think there's anything for you to do. ( except maybe install MJ 8 )

Thanks.
