Generating an email containing newly imported files?
« on: July 26, 2004, 06:47:39 am »

Hell to all,

My daughter uses the computer in her bedroom to connect to Media Server on the family server machine.

Being the only one in charge of adding music to MC on that machine, I'd like to be able to automatically generate an email that I could send her to tell her that such and such a CD has been ripped for her and is now available on the Media Server.

Basically, I'd like the content of the "Recently Imported" playlist to be automatically incorporated into an email text body.

Does anybody know of a way to do this?

We've tried the "ol' sneaker lan" method, but her being a teenager means she is out a lot and I seem to always forget to tell her that her new CDs are now available on the system... :-)

this could be done in a plug-in

currently MC does not have anything in the

Media Center Interface SDK (automation)

Not automatic...but works...

View the Recently Imported folder. Highlight the tracks that are indeed new then MC>Edit>Copy (which copies all data in all visible columns)...paste into Excel. Save it and attach to your e-mail. Another way would be to export as as a m3u (which is simply a text file). Open the *.m3u in Notepad and copy then paste into the new e-mail.
