mp3s converted from wav at incorrect speed
« on: July 20, 2004, 03:25:46 am »

I have a small home recording studio and had been using MJ in order to convert completed wav files to mp3.
I guess I havent tried it since my 8.0 upgrade, it's been a while, but it used to work fine.
Now I convert a wav to mp3 and it plays sloooooooow. Voices like looooow. WTF!?
I looked through my settings but couldn't find the problem
The DAW software I have wants 29$ for an mp3 converter.
Sony sound forge wants 29$ for an mp3 converter
but I PAID for the mp3 converter in MJ already, why should I have to buy another?
It WAS the only thing I got MJ for anyway!
Any help would be $$ thanks

What is the format of your files? Are they e.g. 96 kHz/24-bit? Maybe Media Jukebox supports only 44.1 kHz/16-bit wave file conversions (CD audio standard). I cannot check it here. It was a long time ago when I had Media Jukebox installed.

If I have edited a 96 kHz/24-bit wave file in Wavelab I can play it in Media Center, but I must first resample it to the standard 44.1 kHz before converting to MP3.

MC's LAME MP3 encoder can handle also 48 kHz, but that may cause problems with some players.

Do you mean 41 kHz or 44.1 kHz?

41 kHz means trouble.

If it is 44.1 kHz you could try to open it with another wave editor and resave it. You could also uninstall and reinstall MJ 8 (use the latest version). You could also try a stand-alone LAME encoder. It is free and you can get it e.g. here: www.rarewares.org.
