Multiple artist albums ... too much for iPod
« on: July 30, 2004, 10:04:16 pm »

This is a simple one from a simple mind.

I always rip complete albums.

Lets say I load a Beatles album and a Korn album and a "Best of the 80's" album into my iPod.

When I go to browse by artist on my iPod, I see about 15 artists listed.  I would rather just see the artists that have their own full / dedicated albums.

Is there anything I can do in MC10 to solve this problem?

It may not do everything you need but you could change the artists on the various album to "Various" and create a custom field to store the actual artist name.  The album will get transferred to the ipod as a single artist called Various and you could still use the artist name in view schemes inside of MC by using the alternate field.

This was an option not to too long ago. Then for some reason it was removed from the ipod plugin. I'd love to see it come back.

I'd love to see this too.  In the meantime, my compilation albums are saved in MC with the Artist  Name of "Various Artists", and I've amended the track titles to include the real artist's name in brackets after the song name.  Far from ideal, but as I do 95% of my music listening on my iPod it's currently the best solution for me.
