Media Center 11.0.47 Alpha Available
« on: August 03, 2004, 05:28:03 pm »

We're just starting work on Media Center 11.  We appreciate your feedback on it, but MC11 may not work as expected and we can't yet fully support it.  When upgrading from MC 10, you will lose your settings.  Some plugins still do not work.

If you want a more trouble-free experience, please download Media Center 10 here:
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/download.html

Media Center 11 is available here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter110047.exe

11.0.47 (8/3/04)

1. Fixed: Multiple Install Wizards could be run at one time -- causing possible installations problems.
2. Fixed: Specifying a CD drive in the WM license backup tool could cause MC to hang.
3. Fixed: Trying to a rip a CD back to the same CD drive could cause MC to crash.
4. Changed: When deleting a playlist, the confirmation dialog shows the type. (smartlist, playlist, playlist group)
5. Fixed: Some Real Audio clips would show as video, even though they had no video content.
6. Fixed: TV tuner properties dialog wouldn't give meaningful messages when clicking Modify / Delete with nothing selected.
7. Changed: Changing media modes clears any user entered search string.
8. Fixed: Attempting to convert / encode / record to a CD drive (which isn't writable) could cause a crash.
9. NEW: Several image editor improvements and fixes.
10. NEW: MC displays a background grid when viewing images with transparency.
11. Fixed: Some art pieces with transparency could draw improperly on non-XP systems.
12. Changed: Mute menu item now shows a check when mute is enabled.
13. Fixed: Using WMP engine for video playback could cause slowdowns, and other strangeness.
14. Fixed: Frame could flash at a different position on load before showing at its final position.
15. Fixed: CD writer in data mode was not compatible with some playback devices, such as the IRiver SlimX. Some tracks wouldn't show up on player.

installer restarted my pc to finish install process.

Got a message that it failed to install a file.  I didn't get the path but it was something like jroptions.dll or something.

MC seems to be working but I haven't done much yet.

I had this problems before.

With this build I closed JRDeskBar and then install MC. No problems.

So if you close DeskBar, reboot and reinstall MC the problem should been gone.

When starting this version, MC's screen comes up only partially and flickers for 3 or 4 seconds before it settles down and finishes displaying the interface.  I haven't noticed this before.

Matt...
We'll fix the Cover Art finder bug next build.

Hopefully King will forgive us.

Hi Matt... Still getting this error.

Also,

Can you please make the font and background colors for the tool tips customizable?
I like to use the Thunderstorm skin with the thunderstorm WB skin, but I can't see the text for the tool tips... It's the same color as the box...
Would be nice....

Panes resizing when restarting seems to be fixed.  Thanks.

**Request**

Any way for you guys to be able to let us specify different Import locations for each library?

Thanks.

Also would be nice.

Also.. I am not sure what you guys did to the Database this build, but it is 150% FASTER on my computer.... Much Thanks,

Oh ya... When are we gonna get a glimpse of the MC11 skin?

Hello,

For the last couple of betas, I had to completely uninstall the previous version, because it would freeze on boot up. MC would not be able to load the startup web page and jam there. But, I think I've narrowed down the problem to Cinemar's MLServer plug- in. If I install a new MC beta over an older one and I don't uninstall this plug-in before, the new MC would not load and freeze on initial boot.

Anybody else having this problem?

Thanks.

Thanks, this worked for me.

However the animate thumbs view is not working, before and after reinstall.  I get the following message:

- When starting MC in "Playing Now", it always shows the list from the beginning and not the song that's ready to play. Only when navigating to media library and back to playing now, it will go to the currently selected song. But that song is out of sight, I have to navigate a little bit up to see it.

- The animated images gives a "error starting directx engine", this works with the previous build

First reported with build 34, still happening in this build:

1) It seems like none of the zones are obeying their Output Mode.  I setup Zone 1 to DirectSound channels 3 & 4, and Zone 2 to DirectSound channels 5 & 6.  ReplayGain was enabled for both zones.  Both zones play to channels 1 & 2, although at different volume levels, presumably because one zone is not enabling ReplayGain.

2) The zones are not truly independent.  If I select a song in PlayingNow on Zone 1, then switch to Zone 2, then MC tries to select the same song in Zone 2.  If the song doesn't exist in Zone 2's Playing Now, then nothing is selected.

3) If I select a song in Zone 1's Playing Now, then press Ctrl+T to switch to Zone 2, then press Ctrl+T to switch back to Zone 1 again, the selection is lost.  This maybe isn't a bug, but it would be much nicer if the zone switch didn't affect the selection.

Still getting the following error:

Media Center Failed to install a necessary file
Source:C:\program files\JRiver\Media Center 11\Setup\JROptionsHelper.dll
Destination C:\winnit\system32\JROptionsHelper.dll

If I click ok all runs fine.

Destination C:\winnit\system32\JROptionsHelper.dll

That "winnit" is just a typo on your part, right?  :)
