All In Wonder Problem.
« on: July 09, 2004, 11:20:39 am »

Hello there. Just to give you my problem briefly, my mother went to chile and bought an ati all in wonder 9800 pro graphics card.
It's working fine except that the tuner does not seem to work. It's probably due to the fact that chile uses NTSC while uk uses PAL. I installed the directx 9 patch so that isn't whats affecting it.
I'm guessing that I need to flash the bios so that it is set up for the uk, but I think I may need to set the actual card to ntsc. I heard a rumor of a switch that exists on the card itself that does just that.
However, I have looked an I cant see one.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.

The question, in a nut shell is: How can I convert my ATI 9800 all in wonder pro's tuner from ntsc format to pal.  :P

I hope some user will be able to answer this question because I can not. This is best asked at ATI site.

Hi Twister;

Does the ATI TV load at all ?

By your Interact posts I assume you are in the UK ?

Have you set the ATI card up for PAL ?

To do so...

* Bring up the ATI TV.
* Right click anywhere in the TV screen.
* Select Setup or press CTRL S.
* Select the Video tab.
* Change the Broadcast Standard to one of the PAL settings for the UK.
* Change the Connector setting to you input type.

The problem is hardware, not software. The card was bought in Chile, and therefore has an NTSC tuner. If you go to setup, as suggested by DocLotus, you would most likely find that Broadcast Standard option is greyed out (unless you choose SVideo or Composite, instead of Tuner).

Normally the video capture portion of a TV card supports multiple standard, and can be configured. But the tuner portion likely only supports one standard.

Twister's question was whether there is a hardware switch that would change the standard to PAL.
