MPIO FY200 Support??
« on: December 29, 2003, 07:51:51 pm »

Got my son an MPIO FY200 MP3 player.

The file structure is folder-based.  Is there any way to support this player with MC9/10 instead of the app they provided with the player??

I tried the exising MPIO plugin...but I am guessing this is for a different animal...  This one:

Any suggestions??

Does this player show up in Explorer as either a fixed or removable drive? If so, you will be fine.

If not, try going to Tools->Plugin Manager->Handhelds->Portable Drive->Configure and check the box for 'Enable WMDM support' and then reopen MC and see if the player is recognized.

If this fails, deselect that check box and let me know what happens when after you install the MPIO plugin. Do you see MPIO listed in the tree? What happens when you click on it?

Hi Steve

Sorry to cut in on this thread. It's been a long time, but I'm back and need to download the mpio plug-in for MC 9.1...

...but when I downlaod the file from the plug-in page and click on it, I get an error (Reason: Unknown and gives a long URL).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

1.  MPIO FY200 does not appear as a device/drive when connected via USB
2.  Enabling "WMDM" produces a new entry beneath "Drives and Devices"
3.  New entry is called "INTERNAL MEMORY"
4.  Album folders and songs appear beneath new entry
5.  Right click in "INTERNAL MEMORY" only permits "Format"
6.  I can manually drag-drop/trnasfer songs to "INTERNAL MEMORY" device
7.  MC10 does correctly report total and remaining space on the device

*his* music not mine :) !!

Do you think a SYNC method will be possible with this device...?

markp99,

Synching can be added. Everything seems pretty good for you right now except the playback. How are you attempting to play the files on the mpio from within MC?

Hello Steve - back from another long hiatus, and have just downloaded mc10.

The MPIO plug-in for 9.1 doesn't work, and when I remove it mc10 doesn't recognise the MPIO DMG.

The only thing MC allows me to configure within TOOLS > PLUG-IN MANAGER > HANDHELD > PORTABLE DRIVE is the label.

As always, your assitance is appreciated.

Hello duhva,

If you are running MC 10, go to Tools->Options->Devices and check the box for 'Enable WMDM support'. Based on markp99's report this should work. Please let me know how it is going. We do not have a MPIO DMG here to test.

Hi Steve

Tried it and unfortunately it did not do anything. I checked both the Drives menu and the handheld link from the action menu.

Markp has a newer MPIO than I do (I have the DMG)... the plug-in you made for MC9 worked fin in the end, but I can't get that plug-in to work with MC10.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi again Steve - a minor update.

I tried installing the MC9 MPIO plugin again, and got this error message:

"You appear to havea plugin installed other than one for MC 10. Please get the appropriate plugin."

When I click OK, it shows MPIO in the side menu, with a + sign. When I click the + sign the MPIO menu expands to show:

"INTERNAL MEMORY | EXTERNAL CARD |"

But in the main left window, it lists No Play from 0 to 21, but all entries are blank.

duhva,

The MC 9 plugin will not work with 10. If you have Windows Media Player installed, can you try running it and see if it detects your MPIO. If not, in order for this to work, I will need to update the plugin from 9 to be compatible with MC 10.

Hi Steve

Not to hassle you or rush you, but I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade from MC9 to MC10...

Will you support the MPIO DMG as a handheld device in MC10?

Thanks & regards

duhva,

MPIO is working on becoming WMDM compatible which would instantly make MC10 compatible. If that does not work, we will update our plugin but they make take a while until we get to it.

Hi Steve - thanks for the quick reply. Did MPIO give you any kind of dates or timing on when they expect to0 make the DMG WMDM compliant? Thanks again... !

No they did not, so I don't know.  I also don't know which models will be compliant.

Sounds like MPIO.

Out of curiousity, can I run MC9 and MC10 simultaneously?

(Kind of defeats the purpose, I know, but that way I can convert my APE files into mp3s & download to the MPIO with 9 when I need to while using 10 most of the time...)

Hi Steve (and anyone else interested)

I found my way through MPIOs site to a Windows Media Player plug-in, which, when installed, lets MC10 (and WMP) see the MPIO DMG.

This plug-in is for all MPIO players, so anyone who has one should go to the download link:
www.mpio.co.kr/upimages/plugin_down/e2_20031106103217_WMP_PlugIn.zip

(There also seems to be a newer plug-in only for the FY series)

Everything now seems to work fine with MC10 except:
* MC10 doesn't seem to read the ID Tags right, and lumps everything under the Name column
* I am unable to format internal and external memory using MC10

For any interested DMG owners (or am I the only one?) the latest firmware release (12.50) is also available from the site.
