When I am importing Media files on my computer, I have no problem importing MP3 files but when I attempt to import AAC files I receive a message that Media Core has encountered a problem and needs to close and then shuts down.  This has 4 times in a row and after rebooting.

Any suggestions?

Try importing these files into Quicktime and see what happens. If they crash as well  that will confirm why we crash (we use Quicktime to open and import AAC files).  Possible reasons for this include filenames which are too long. Try shortening the filename (the full path, not just the 'Name') and see if the files import. This last issue is a limitation of Quicktime.

I had not appreciated that MC uses Quicktime to "access" AAC files.  The quicktime install was corrupted, so I re-installed Quicktime and it cleared up the problem.

The files imported with no difficulty.
