To be sure I re-tried using "update all files" but is the same result: ogg and mp3 files get the custom fields, not mpc (with ape tagging) files.

However I though APE let set custom fields. May be it is APE v2 matter, or a MJ bug (but I cannot believe it

You are quite right.

Custom fields 1-3, lyrics and notes are not written in the mpc ape tag....yet.

For now we can only use custom fields as database fields, not tag info.

Trelane, the author of the mpc input plugin for MJ is aware of this, and I think he is planning for a plugin update to ape 2.0 tags. Whether or not this will mean that we will get custom fields in the tag, I don't know, but it will definetely mean much better tagging for mpc files.

That confirms MJ should indicate clearly (or at least it should document it) what is stored in the db and what is stored in the tag, for each tag type.

It is very important to know what we can loss if we loss the db.

I have another problem, Tagging MPC with MJ uses id3v1 if i use winamp to tag one MPC he uses APE v.2 if i import that file to MJ i don't have any information about the file

You can set APE v1 (MPC plugin configuration). But I am not sure it could read APE v2 tag anyway. Talvez sim, talvez não...

ape v.1 and id3v1 it appears to be the same because i don't see any change, if i use winamp to play a mpc file with id3v1 or ape v.1 all the fields are showed except the genre but it's not a big deal for me. Mas podia ser melhor
