Please help me import itunes ratings
« on: October 18, 2004, 05:09:36 pm »

I have MC 11 and have registered (since version 7.x)

I really want to use MC for everything,
But for the past 6 months I've been using itunes and have 6300/6600 songs rated.

Please tell me how I can get those ratings into media center!!!

Is there a way through the ipod?
Is there a way through itunes?

If there isnt a way, please make one!  I can't rate 6300 songs again.  I dont have it in me.  And if they arent rated, playlists wouldnt be so useful for me

Assuming you have an iPod you can transfer you rating via the iPod. Just select 'sync data to MC' in handheld options.

Other way: make a playlist for songs with one star, a playlist for songs with two stars etc and import them to MC, and rate them accordingly. I have bad feeling though. I don't think iTunes can create 'real' playlists, only .xml playlists.

I can't load the songs onto the ipod (with my itunes ratings) and import them into media cetner.   Every time I do that I get an error messgae.  If I format the ipod for mediacenter and then use itunes to put songs on (with my ratings) and then go back, i get the error or when i dont nothing happpnes.

You are right about itunes playlists.  They are in Xml format, which mediacenter does not read!

Am I missing something on syncing with the ipod?
Can someone post a step by step way to go from
1) Initialize Ipod to work with media center to..... sync ratings?

f I import a playlist from Winamp (M3U), it does not import correctly.    The files show up but "aren't found"

The Winamp imported playlist say:
#EXTINF:317,Zero 7 - Give It Away
for example before the File paths.

I notice M3u playlists made in media center do not have this string, just all of the files and their path

Any way around it?
