I tried to create a DVD on MC10 using a DVD+R disk and it didn't work.  MC10 said that it was attempting to "initialize the drive" but it never did.

Are there certain DVD burners that don't recognize DVD+R's?

yes, i think there is dif formats

but most of the time it depends if the disk has been finalized

Most newer DVD burners are multi format but if you have an older drive it is very possible that it only supports +R/RW or -R/RW media.

My experience is that every DVD burner has it's prferences - one of my Sony Burners only took DVD +R, and was picky about the brand of disc as well!!  I have since upgraded and my new one is supposed to do both, but perfers the DVD + R.  What I found was that it's best to google your buner make and model and you should be able to find out what it will and won't do.  As for machines that will playback your recordings it appears that most of the newer models of DVD/MP3/CD players  work for both kinds, but again, you can just google your player   make and model and find out.

I've had this problem as well.  The burner's fine and I can burn other data DVDs no problem.  For some reason MC seems to recognise that it's being asked to burn the video_ts folder and refuses to cooperate.    ?

I ended up using CDBurnerXPPro which works well and is free!  It can't write a UDF disk though, so you might have compatibility problems with older players.
