Yeah, I have the same problem - some work, whilst others don't.

I imported the winamp MPC plugin which will get all of them to play, but the track duration comes up as 31112/*****, you can't fast forward a track, and more often as not they cause MC to crash completely.

Anybody suggest a fix for this??

It has been discussed here before. Usually the reason is non-standard usage of ID3 v.2 tags with MPC files. They should be APE v2 tags. For some reason MC doesn't support ID3 v.2 tags in MPC files (it shows/imports tag information, but can't play them).

Possible fixes:

1. Rerip with APE v.2 tags. Use MC or define your EAC/MPPenc correctly.

2. Remove the ID3 v.2 tags with a third party tool (I have used Foobar 2000). Let MC update the files from library after that. This may work sometimes.

3. Use e.g. Foobar 2000 for listening to them.

4. Trash the files and listen to something else.  ;D

Alex B - Spot on - cheers for that.

For other like minded newbies - I'd wholeheartedly recommend downloading a copy of 'k-mp3' (do a google - can't be arsed finding the URL).

Use the remove tags function to strip those pesky MPCs bare - then run library import in Media center and let it sort the rest out for you.
