hi guys!

i have a zen for 2 months now and the player itself is great. the only thing i still havnt figured out is how to have smartlists..i mean when i transfer the mc playlists (and smartlists) in the zen i can only see it by the normal way (that is by album , artist,genere etc..) is there a way to have mc smartlists in the zen or do i have to have a diffrent playlist for each one in mc and then get lots of double files which would be a real waste of space.. ?

What version of MC do you have? Are you using synchronization to move your playlists to Zen (right click on the Zen in MC 10 or use the Action Window in MC 11 to use synchronization).

what I mean is that if for example I transfer 3 playlists form mc: one with all 5 star tracks, one with only mellow mood in the mood colum and one with 3 4 and 5 rate tracks. and i have a song that appears in all of them (lets say nights in white satin by the moody blues) will it appear 3 times in the zen hard disk or does the zen know when i play the 5 star playlist or the mellow mode playlist to automaticly "fetch" it from the hard drive

The file will exist on the player one time and be accessed from each of the playlists.

It should work. Another somewhat major revision is coming soon.

I will probably wait unless it would help you if I tried.  I continue to use 10 and do sync to it. So I generally have to delete all files on the zen when I try to sync with 11.  That does not take much time, but it certainly takes a while to reload from 10 as I load around 6,000+

Usising build .082, the tracks sync but the playlists don't. This is on a new MC11 install (no plugin previously installed)

How are you initiating the sync? Are you selecting 'Sync Playlists' in the AW? When you right click on the Zen in the tree, do you see an option for 'Synchronize files'?

Hi Steve. Yes (through the AW) and yes (I see and use the synchronize option), but I'm not forcing a convert. I'll try that tonight.

At the end I get an error that the playlist can't sync, and a list of files. I think (but I'm not sure) that all of these files are in an unsupported format, which is why I thought that the format had something to do with the playlist not syncing. Again, I'll let you know asap.

This for sure is a part of your problem. Force conversion will allow files to convert during the transfer to your player. Check the box for 'Skip conversions of same file type' if you do not want to convert files which are already of a type that Zen supports.

Keep in mind, once files are on the Zen, they will not retransfer when you sync.

One suggestion though - in the dialog box, perhaps "force" should be replaced by "enable".  That would be clearer (for me at least!)
