OT - Thanksgiving (at least for us Canucks)
« on: October 06, 2004, 04:15:16 pm »

Here's my list:

I am thankful  for living in a place where I am free to have an opinion and express it outloud.  Where as a woman, I have the right to my body,my belief systems,  to be able to vote, go to school and university and work in any profession I please.

I am thankful for all the bad things that have happened in my life, because the choices I had the freedom to make helped to shape me into the person I am today. I am thankful that I didn't let those bad things make me bitter, fearful and angry at the world.

I am thankful  for family and friends.

And I am thankful for MC liberating me from media mediocrity and helping me master new computing skills!   Thanks all and have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.   Bet

Couldn't tell ya, king...we are far from normal!!  We have meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans and lactose intolerants to feed in this bunch.   ;D   Generally we have roasted turkey breast, stuffing with cranberries, cashews and  mushrooms , a mixed green salad, corn on the cob, steamed brocolli , some sort of squash, peas, carrots,  red potatoes and yams.  For dessert we usually have pumpkin and apple pies (with icecream or non-dairy soy icecream like substance).    This year we might add Mom's christmas pudding with rum sauce as she will be here this time.  Oh yes, and a very nice chardonney and a Merlot from the Chalet Winery here on the Island.  Of course we don't usually eat breakfast and start this mega meal at about 2 pm.  You are welcome to join us if you're in the neighbourhood  ;D

Turkey is "de Rigueur" here.

I used to have a relationship with a lady in Boston. It was great at Thanksgiving(s). We would have Thanksgiving here in Canada in Octoberand then once again in the States a few weeks later. I quickly learned how roast a mean Butterball! :-)

Michel.

From Arlo Guthrie - Alice's Restaurant Massacree:

"That's what we did, and drove back to the church, had a Thanksgiving
dinner that couldn't be beat, went to sleep and didn't get up until the
next morning, when we got a phone call from officer Obie.  He said, "Kid,
we found your name on an envelope at the bottom of a half a ton of
garbage, and just wanted to know if you had any information about it." And
I said, "Yes, sir, Officer Obie, I cannot tell a lie, I put that envelope
under that garbage.""

oh i thought it would be:

Bear Meat Loaf
2 lb ground Bear meat
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. oregano
3/4 cup tomato sauce
1 cup onion, minced
1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 cup bread crumbs
1/2 green pepper, finely chopped,
I also add 1 small can of mushrooms or fresh mushrooms.
Bake at 350 until done (about an hour).
When it looks close to being done, maybe 15 minutes,
I spread either BBQ sauce or ketchup over the top. Enjoy Butch
