v11 vs v10 import problem
« on: October 07, 2004, 05:34:30 pm »

I decided to start a new thread vs duplicate problems.

I deleted the entile media libray by using windows to delete the library.  I did a library update to start over (It was very fast).. over 43K  6k had missing name field.

I went back to version 10. updated the library 6K had moved and needed to be rebuilt (very slow)

ALL the name fields are present in  ver 10 for those missing in ver 11

That's not safe.  You need to use Media Center to create new libraries.

Also, MC 10 and MC 11 can not safely share a library.

I don't think i am sharing a library.

when I said  library:clear library  the folder was still at 54 megs

so I deleted it.  so how should I start over.

Use Library Manager to create a new library at a new location.  Then import some files.

You may want to work in small batches instead of all your files at once.

It's BACK.

I used PsychicMP3 to update file names of about 4 albums.  Ithen did a library update. Next I updated tags from file names.  I now have 4 albums worth of duplicate file names.  I can delete them, and update libary and it returns them twice

more info if it helps.

(This is NOT a problem with KINGS plugin)

one set of the four albums still has Md5TEXTHASH (which I made a field to be only in the library (not in the file).

Can you duplicate this problem on a new file?

If so, can you throw up a step-by-step for us to try?

Thanks :)

  changed the file name

deleted the file from library(remove from media library)
updated the library (file import media)
updated the tags from filename
updated the library (file import media)

no duplicates.  then updated the library (file import media) found 1 changed file, now have duplicates.

It still seems like some type of timing problem.  having trouble getting to to rerpeat every time. will continue to play with it. up to 162 dulicate files now
