HP DVD300i DVD Burner
« on: October 29, 2004, 12:50:03 pm »

I have an HP DVD300i with the latest drivers and firmware installed in my system and MC absolutely hates it. It crawls when burning and fails about 2/3 of the way through with an 'invalid address for write' error.

DVD playback has been fine as is CD playback. This morning however I clicked on 'Drives and Devices' and MC locked up with the 'analyzing devices' window open. MC now also locks up when I hit Tools->Options and I know the last option I was on was CD Writer.

Anyone else have any probs with this particular drive? I've tried the info in JimH's recent post about bad burns but my transfer mode is set to DMA if available.

Cheers,

A little further info...

The lock up problems occur when there is a blank disc in the drive. Accessing anything to do with the drive (i.e options -  cd writer, clicking on devices and drives...) locks MC up until the disc is removed.
