Is there any way to export data to a graphing program?
« on: November 21, 2004, 11:01:29 pm »

Is there any way to gather a report of how many times an artist or song has been played and export it to a graphing program like excell? It seems like it could be simple, just simple enough for me to figure out.

Select "Number Plays" as one of the fields you want to display
Select the tracks you're interested in
<ctrl> c
Now paste into Excel

It even manages to handle the ratings ok, though un-rated tracks show as "?".

I was thinking more of a "Export stats" button, but I'll see if I can do it manually. Thanks.

I gave this a try, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I want something that will not only tell me how many times a song has been played (as MC does), but how many times an artist has been played, or an album, or genre, etc.

Is this possible?

Actually this reminds of a question I wnated to ask for a long time:

Why is it not possible to export the MC Library in ASCII format but only in xml?

If I could have ASCII, this would allow me to export into Access or Excel

Many thanks for giving this some consideration

You can export it in ASCII format if you first make a playlist of the library tracks. Right click the playlist and select Export Playlist > ASCII Delimited.
