Problem moving files
« on: November 07, 2004, 09:31:01 pm »

I'm using MC 10.0.155

My music collection consists entirely of full albums.  I have decided that I want to create a new folder and move some of my albums from my "z:\techno" folder to the new "z:\ambient" folder.

I read somewhere that it is best to do the file moving inside the MC program rather than using Windows Explorer.  When I select an album in the techno album folder and right click on the album folder, I do not get the "library tools" option.  So then I select the songs *within* the techno album folder and then I can see the library tools option.  Then when I tell MC to move the songs to the new ambient folder, it dumps them in a new folder called "This folder."  Does this mean that if I want to move over 100 albums from one directory to another that I have to manually create 100 new album folders before I can move the albums songs into the folders?

There's got to be a better way.

Thanks for your help,
Bob

why not use "Rename" and it allows you to provide a mask

X:\My Music\
Mask:

[Artist]\[Album]

File Name Mask

[Artist] - [Album]

I don't understand what you mean.  Can you be more specific?
