No CD info available on burned CDs
« on: October 31, 2002, 05:43:10 am »

HI,  The problem I'm having is when I put a burned CD into my computer to rip and encode it, MJ is unable to read the title or the track names.  I also have realone player, which I use to download to an MP3 player.  I put the same disk in and use realone to rip, and realone is able to tell me the CD info.  Why is that?  If I put in a pressed CD, MJ has no problem reading the CD info.  It seems to be accuring only with the burned CD's.  How can I correct this?  the info is on/out there somewhere.  How do I get it?

I've been reading some posting re: Yadb and cddb,  Is this related?  If so, what corrections are coming?

thank you,
mak

There is 3 ways (methods) to replicate a CD:

1. TAO => Track At Once
Result: Doesn't copy over Disk ID # which is what the lookup services (YADB, FreeDB, CDDB) use for matching.

2. DAO => Disk At Once
Result: Should copy over Disk ID #

3. Image or Clone (may be DAO, probably is)
Result: Definitely copies over Disk ID #

Multi-session CD's are OK as long as the FIRST session contains the CD you imaged (and want info on).

I still don't understand.  why does realone retrive the info on the same burned CD and your program doesn't?  In the future if I burn a CD, how should I proceed to encode the correct info.

thank you,

Yeah, that's weird

Use MJ, Roxio ECDC, or CloneCD

Most bullet proof way for me has been with ECDC, using the Image (preferred) or DAO method.
