Help - Rename Files Problem
« on: November 01, 2004, 09:58:25 am »

I am going through my current media center database (using 10.0.173), and found a multi-artist album which needed renaming.

Upon Renaming the album, Rename File From Properties decided to use the artists name rather than "Assorted" To store the album;  hence I now have the album stored as single mp3 files in 12 separate folders.

Any idea how to fix this without manually renaming EVERYTHING?

Any idea why it does this?

Thanks.
Martin.

I'll have to check when I get home (I'm at work on a Mac, and no MC on OSX unfortunately), but I believe that there is a checkbox in the "Rename Files from Properties" dialog box that lets you choose whether to use the "Assorted" artist on multi-artist albums ...

If so, simply find all the songs in your MC library, select them, and re-do the rename (making sure this checkbox is marked correctly).

If not, then I would just select them and do a manual move through MC (Right Click --> Library Tools --> Move/Copy files ... I think).  I'm pretty sure the option is there though, at least in v11.
