How to save playlists
« on: November 21, 2004, 10:44:35 am »

I use MC10 with MC media server.

I can create a playlist and populate it, but when I exit and restart Media Center the playlist disappears.

I can export a playlist but I can't see any option to import it again.

Can someone explain how this is meant to work?

if you are using MC as a client to another library running as Media Server, you cannot save playlists in the server.

If you are on the machine running the server, anytime you create a playlist it is kept.

OK. This actually makes playlists useless for us.

Can I suggest to JRiver that a note should be added to the online help explaining this?

Thanks,

To import an exported playlist, simply go to File --> Open Media File and navigate to select the exported Playlist.  I've only tested this with M3U files, but I suspect it would work with other types as well.

It puts the playlist in your Playlists --> Imported Playlists View Scheme (which is created if it doesn't exist).  I don't know if you can do this import from a Client machine (but I bet you can).  If not, you could always just use VNC server on the server machine and run the "Open Media File" remotely.

I've also gotten drag-drop support to work, but it doesn't seem to work reliably (sometimes it seems to work, other times you get the anti symbol).   ?

The standard Tools --> Import Media will work too, so long as you have "Audio Playlists" checked in the media types list (or MPL if you use those types of playlists).

I want to create playlists on my own machine while playing music from another machine running Media Server.
