MC 10 Crashes During Search
« on: December 22, 2004, 11:24:15 am »

I'm "Importing Media" with MC 10 and it crashes during the import with a "Media Core has encountered a problem..." Is there something I can do about this? Is Microsoft Windows XP causing this problem?

What version of MC?
Take a look at your files, Do any of them contain a illegal character?

ie

So Far...So Good...So What...

The ... in this case could be causing the problem.

If that's not it, import in small batches till you find the file(s)

You may want to try MC 11.  It makes a log during import so we can pinpoint the problem.

Thanks.

I would, but I've got no license for MC 11. I would be happy to run MC 11 for debug purposes, though, so let me know if you want me to.

Right now, MC 10 is importing all my music files... it's over 950 now. What I did this time is specify JUST the "Shared Music" folder, which I know contains only music files.

Well, it's finished. Found 986 new files. Maybe I'll test the folder where it crashed later... :)
