OT: good mp3 player for Pocket PC?
« on: January 21, 2005, 05:00:27 pm »

I tried this in the handhelds forum, but it died, so I'm resurrecting it here.

I'm looking for tag-based mp3 playing software for the pocket pc that has the same sort functionality as MC and some of the tag based handhelds, ie, the ability to display the music library (which in my case would be the music files on a large CF or SD card) by genre/artist/album, etc.

Most of the players I've seen require you to create playlists by choosing files or groups of files. I don't want to have to do this.  I want to be able to see a tree view, and click on an album and have it play. . . just like I can in MC.

I've looked at Pocket Player and withMP3, but these don't seem to do what I want.  PocketMusic is closest to what I'm looking for, but I still have to pick the album on the tree and send it to a playlist, which I then have resort by track in play mode because it defaults to title sort...

So, anyone have any suggestions?  Of course what I'd like most is for the MC folks to write a stripped down MC for PPC....

Thanks,
