Learn about Playlists and Smartlists
« on: October 23, 2002, 09:41:11 am »

I know this is a basic question.  I've looked around for information on creating and using Playlists and Smartlists and can't find any.  Can someone direct me to where I can read/learn about this?

I envision having my favorite albums, my wife having her favorite albums and my daughter having hers, putting all that on my ipod and being able to locate our music easily on our road trips.

Thanks

Playlists are easy:
Right click on the Playlists folder and select Add Playlist. Give it a unique name. Now u can either drag and drop or right click on the file(s) and Send To...your playlist. To change the playback order within the list, go to the list and start dragging the files around (make sure to right click on the playlist name and Update Order afterwards).

Smartlists are very similiar. I don't use them so I know nothing about setting up the rules for them.

Both are exportable (WinAmp M3U is what I use for SlimX). Don't know what Apple uses. See the IPOD thread for latest dev's in IPOD plug-in.

In MJ go to the Toolbar> Help > How to> Organize Media Files

Or in Help do a search for Create Playlist, Create Smartlist etc.
