Problem with playback on network machine

I am running two computers in my house. I  have Media Center 10 installed on both machines.  I store all the media files on a server and access them from the second machine.

The problem I am having is during playback of  mp3's. When a song plays it will play all the way through normally and then rotate to the next song in the cue automatically as it should. Usually but not in every case the music sounds washed out with no bass.  When I slide the position slide bar to the left  any amount at all, the sound suddenly comes in full and clear.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled MC 10 on both machines and that has not solved the problem.
