What happens during conversion?
« on: February 07, 2005, 11:40:22 am »

What exactly happens if you have MC convert files of the same filetype before transferring to a handheld? I have MC convert to wma 128 because my new Sandisk player can't handle mp3 or wma above that bitrate. I deselected Skip Same File Type because I need to down sample some higher bitrate wma files. But, when I transfer files that are already wma 128, MC goes through a conversion process. Am I losing quality when MC converts wma 128 to wma128?

Request: It would be great if you could tell MC to convert or down sample files based on bitrate and/or filetype. I have to convert my 128 bit mp3s to 128 bit wma's because of the above global setting. I don't need to convert these and I had going from one lossy to another lossy. But, I need the global setting to handle all my APE files and wma/mp3 higher than 128.

Probably.

In regards to the request, this is a good idea and could be added sometime, but not right now.
