Library problem
« on: February 07, 2005, 06:33:01 pm »

I had to put my pc in the shop because it would not boot.

I got it back, and it ran Chkdsk on the external drive I keep my music on. the music file got deleted from the external drive and moved to the C drive.  I lost 212 tunes.

I used Podutil to copy the missing tunes back to the same file as the rest of the music.

MC doesn't recognize that the files are back.

Are there any suggestions as to what I should do?

Did MC see those tunes on the C drive before you moved them to the ext drive? If so, move them back and use MC to move them to the external drive.

If the above doesn't hold water, you may just have to re-import them into MC.

I tried to import the missing 212 tunes, but MC wouldn't do it.  I'm thinking that in order to get MC to import, I have to make the titles of the Media library disappear (not the music files) and then import everything back from the ext. drive which contains the stuff copied over.

How do I do that safely?  I just don't want to screw up and have to start over.  Better to swear off music than to re-rip 4,000 tunes.
