error message

I have just tried to use media center 10 trial and after about 2 minutes get an error 31 message saying a file is either missing or corrupt.
I saw the beta version 11 on the forum so i tried that but i get exactly the same message.
does anyone know what could cause this ?
Is it anything to do with running sp2?

Something is modifying an essential file.

A complete uninstall, reboot, then reinstall may fix it.  Make sure no cracks have been used.

If the problem persists, check your machine for viruses and spyware, as this is the only other likely cause.
