In MC go to Tools>Options>Startup.

Under "Startup options" there is a checkbox for "Run remote server on port: XXXX.   Set XXXX to an unused port.

Now launch your web browser on the same machine that MC is on and type http://localhost:XXXX    substitute the port you selected for XXXX of course.

This will give you some basic control of MC from any PC anywhere, even over the internet if your firewall is configured to allow it through.

Remote server is even more powerful if you use netremote in addition to it.  Do a search here on netremote or check it out at their website www.promixis.com

Wow!  Thanks! Thats really clever!

I thought it was going to allow me to play
music on another machine via webrowser
in effect giving me access to my whole media collection
from work or something.
but instead it just means i can control what my computers
doing at home whilst i'm at work....

I'm sure there's a good reason for this tho!  :D
Cheers

Right.
Then there's "Library Server" found under the plugins area.  That allows you to share your library on the home computer so that it can be accessed and played on your work computer.

Thats good. But you need Media Center
on both ends for this one right?

To be fair I've got no idea why you'd want
to do it thru a browser.

Thanks
