keyboard media keys
« on: March 28, 2005, 09:58:50 am »

Why would the keyboard media keys (play, pause, etc) work for one brand of keyboard and not another?  The keys works perfectly well on my wireless Gyro, but I cannot get any response from a Microsoft keyboard.

The volume keys work.  Both keyboards are on different computers, but trying to control identical installations of MC10.  Is there some way to make the keyboard driver aware of the default player?

This is messy because each driver and manufacturer makes their own system.

With Microsoft keyboards, you'll probably get better results without IntelliType. (since it tries to run its own router / handler)

Sorry there isn't a better answer.

Well, as a work-around you could always use a product like girder.  Use girder to capture the keys your keyboard sends and then send whatever you'd like to MC.
