Speaker probs
« on: March 23, 2005, 09:06:06 pm »

I installed some updated audio drivers on to my computer which enables me to plug my centre speakers into the line in input on the back of my computer, It works sweet as with window media player, but when i use Media centre 10 there is no sound coming out of my centre speakers pluged in to the line in, only out of my mains?? Please help i HATE windows media player, and would love to get Media centre working with this set up.

You have to turn multi-channel audio on (for music files anyway)...

1. Enter the DSP Studio, which you can access by clicking the EQ-looking button next to the Shuffle button at the top of MC.

2. Put a Checkmark next to Output Format and in the settings, change the channels to 5.1 channels -- JRSS 2.0 (or whatever speaker setup you now have - though you'll probably want 5.1 to get the center channel to work).

3. Close the DSP Studio dialog and start a new song playing and you should have sound through the center!

If not, then it's probably a sound card driver thing, not an MC thing...

Maybe the audio in MC needs to be set to DirectSound...

Tools / Options / Playback / Audio / Output / Output Mode

See if that makes any difference...
