Updates
« on: October 16, 2002, 01:26:24 pm »

You guys have to come up with a better Update process...a 6.5 MB download everytime you make a slight version change? Plus it seems like a full installation. It's extremely annoying having to reset my file types every time I download an update from you (and I wont chose express install cuz you associate file type I don't want associated w/MJ). Isn't there any way you can grab those settings from the previous installation?

Love the app, though.
Thanks

6.5 MB? More like 8.9 MB. If you do a custom install, doesn't it honor the previous version settings? I know it does for internal settings, but maybe not for file associations. I can see your point, in my case I just let MJ do it's thing.

You know your not required to download the updates.

besides it only takes a few seconds to download if you have a cable modem or DSL it really is worth the few extra bucks if you can fit it in your budget.

Express installs seem to keep my settings including file associations. This is in WindowsXP. The only setting undone is the encoding quality choice which gets reset from 'custom' back to 'normal' (but, hey, my file sizes got much smaller...).

I checked with the latest update 8.0.388 and no settings changed with express update, not even the encoding quality setting that I reported earlier.
