Can I get onboard 8 channel to work?
« on: April 04, 2005, 12:21:00 am »

My Media Center worked fine with a Creative 5.1 sound card, set to 2 channel or multiple channel.  I just upgraded my motherboard to an Asus K8N with an AMD 3000.  The motherboard has onboard 8 channel sound, which I can play in separate right & left channels for each of 4 speaker systems- if I use the RealTek Sound Manager that came with the motherboard.  But when I try to play in Media Center 10.0.173, the 8 channel setting only plays in the front speakers.  The onboard sound has ALC850 CODEC, and "AC97 2.3 compatible multi-channel audio designed for PC multimedia systems."  I've removed the Creative 5.1 sound card.  I can play MP3 files from my hard drive and CD's on my AOL Media Player, so I know all 8 channels are working- I've just got to get my Media Center to work with them  too.  Any ideas on how I can make it happen?  I really don't want to trade out my Media Center for the AOL Media Player.
