Media Cntr 10 Toolbar Commands disappear

After using Media Center 10 for a while with no problems, I am suddenly unable to open the File, Edit , View, Player, Tools, Help dropdowns. Have uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, etc, now it seems like sometimes it works- but most of the time doesn't. Any ideas? I run a W2000 with a 433 processor and 196mb of ram(which I know is minimal- but i've always been able to do everything before...
