Problem when switching the default audio device
« on: June 15, 2005, 02:36:33 pm »

Hi,

I have been using MC for some time now and there is one thing that I can't figure out. Why does my selected output for my zones get screwed up when I change the default output in windows?

I have four zones setup like this

SB Card with kx project drivers

Zone 1 = SB 0/1
Zone 2 = SB 6/7
Zone 3 = SB 8/9
Zone 4 = Onboard

I switch the default audio from the onboad device to an M-Audio card depending on which room I want to watch a movie in. After I do the switch the zones end up like:

Zone 1 = M-Audio
Zone 2 = SB 0/1
Zone 3 = SB 6/7
Zone 4 = SB 8/9

If I restart MC without doing anything else, it corrects the outputs.

Any help on this would be welcome

Thanks Davie

What output mode do you use for each zone? (DS, WaveOut, etc.)

Also, does it play to the wrong place or only look wrong in options?

HI Matt,

The output of all the zones are set to WaveOut. And yes it does play to the wrong place.

Thanks Davie

Wave out doesn't work with that. You need to set it to direct sound.

Thanks! :) And nope, not with your sound cards. Only with some cheap on board and USB sound cards that don't support direct sound.
