MC11 question about analyzing on local drive
« on: April 27, 2005, 08:43:02 pm »

I keep my MP3 files on a network drive. In the past, everything has always worked fine that way. Today with build 250 I tried Analyze to make sure I had analyzed all files. I got a message that analyze must be run on a local drive and that 12 files couldn't be added. I said OK and it started analyzing 116 files, so obviously the local drive requirement(?) doesn't apply. But what's wrong with 12 files, and which 12 files out of almost 13,000, couldn't be analyzed?

No, but I did figure out what the problem was. I clicked on the Audio item in the tree to get the list of all audio files and then selected them. For some reason, there were 12 cda files in the list. I have no idea why but deleting them was the key.

The message is kind of misleading though because in my job & world a local drive means one that's on your computer that you're working with. A remote or network drive is a drive you're linked to. By saying local drive, it sounds like the analyze will only work on the one.

Perhaps the message should change "local drive" to "non-removable" drive.
