Hello Everyone,

If you have a portable device that is not an iPod, is not a Dell or Creative Jukebox, does not present itself to your PC as a removable or fixed drive, but is recognized by Windows Media Player (and by MC) your feedback would be helpful.

Devices that are not in the categories just listed are treated by MC as 'Generic WMDM' devices. I have recently made many modifications in how MC relates to these devices.  MC will now, when possible, create Artist and Album objects for files on these devices.  When files are deleted, MC should clean up any objects that are empty as a result of the deletion. We have a limited number of devices to test so if you could test this functionality and post concerns, it would be a big help.

My Creative Nomad IIc fits this category. It is initially recognized by MC11, and asks if you want to add it as a handheld device, but it then has to "retrieve files" IOT initialize, and immediately crashes the system. The device works fine with WMP, but I really detest using that program if I dont have to.

I think I may have this fixed. Can you tell me how the device is named when viewed in WMP?

This is how I have them named. I dont remember how WMP originally named them.
