There are issues in the setting tools/options/output mode settings/buffering.  A buffer setting of greater than 2 seconds causes the next track to start 2 seconds into to former track.  A setting of less than 2 seconds results in an equivilent  shortening (1 second=1 shorter).

Are you talking about a visual or audible difference?  A visiual difference is to be expected.  Actual audio output should be unchanged.

Matt, I am sorry to be taking up space on your version board, but I believe this is a bug and one having to do with audio playback, which to me seems serious.  I tried posting this as a question and nobody seems interested in exploring it.  Here is what I can tell you:

The issue seems to be in going from .wav files at 16bitsx48khz (1536 kps)to wav files at 16x44.1 khz (1411 kps).  In rev .276, any setting on buffer resulted in an early cut to the next track equal to the setting.  On rev .277, any setting above 2 seconds results  in a 2 second early cut, any setting below is equivilent to the setting.

I agree that there is always a "visual difference", by which I assume you mean the progress meter shows the next track loading early.  But under the conditions outlined above, there is an audible difference.  The next song starts before the last one ends.
