Q: MC and MP3Gain
« on: May 12, 2005, 12:51:01 pm »

How do MC handle mp3's processed by MP3Gain? Are these files ruined or have abnormal volume after Replay gained by MC?

Thanks!

Depends on if you have the MP3Gain tagging enabled or not. If so, I can't answer because I do not use MP3Gain that way.

If not, then no, the files will be fine and the only difference is that the MC adjustment will be smaller than it would be without the use of MP3Gain.

Actually, MP3 Gain works very well with MC. If the undo information is saved to the mp3 files MC does not touch or ruin it. It doesn't handle APE tags inside MP3. The files will be fine without using MC's Replay Gain, but additional analyzing with MC's proprietary system and using Replay Gain would be a good idea if other file formats are used besides MP3. Also, it would make changing between track and album gain possible with MC11.

Great! Then I can ditch MP3Gain in favour for MC11 :) One less step to remember!
