Need Help With Windows Un-Install
« on: October 13, 2002, 08:52:41 am »

Thru The Past Year I Have Installed some software over other software and each time it installed another program in the install\remove area.

the problem is when i uninstalled one version the other versions are still listed. they are no longer there but add and remove will not allow it to be uninstalled.

I know there was a way to remove them from the list but i am not sure how to get there from here or if there is a utility i can use.

Help!

If you know that the program is truly gone, and want to remove it from the list of Add/Remove Programs, open up your Registry Editor (Start, Run, Regedit) and surf to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

In that key you'll find a lot of other keys (folders) - one for each item in your Add/Remove Programs list (and a lot that don't show in the list... they're hidden).  Note that the ones that are appearing in your Add/Remove Programs list have a "DisplayName" and an "UninstallString" value -- both are required to show in the list.  Delete the keys that are showing in the list (Look for a "DisplayName" string value) that you do not wish to show.  It's crude, but it works.
