recording source
« on: October 10, 2002, 08:31:04 am »

I have installed MJ on a computer and found the only recording source choice was Mixer.  On another computer the recording source had all the components such as Line Input, Audio CD, etc but the Audio CD source wouldn't detect any sound when recording, using MP3 Encoder as the output.  The Line Input worked OK.
Any suggestions on how to control the recording source better?

Maybe they are Plus features? I don't know.

Sounds like a bad installation or a system problem. Post your sys info for the flakey machine (Help>System Info).

I reloaded MJ 7.2 and the Audio CD problem went away.  I tried loading 8.0 again and the Audio CD problem reappeared.  I loaded MJ 7.2 again and the problem went away again.  Something in MJ 8.0 is causing my problem.

Look in "Options/Recorder settings" and see if there are multiple recording devices and if so, try selecting a different one.

I am looking under Options/Recorder Settings & Recording Source.  All I have to select from is Mixer.  This particular computer has a TV card in it that makes it different from the other computer that has all the recording sources showing up.  It may be that there is a compatability problem.

If you're using version 8, you should see an option box labeled "Recording Device" (not to be confused with the "Recording Source" option box with "mixer, line-in,mic, etc.").
Do you have the "Recording Device" option and if so are there multiple devices to choose from?
