Datdude: MC 11 Playback Problem
« on: May 28, 2005, 12:53:58 am »

Error: "Internal play buffer error.  Playing buffer accumulated too much spent data.

The music started skiping like a cd player would until I hit the ok button on the error.  Before that it sort of paused without pausing right before the end of a song and when I hit pause and then play again, the next song played for maybe like 5 seconds before the error showed up.

Additionally the seeking does not work well.  I clikc halfway or more on the progress bar and it just starts the song over.  The time in the display also just shows dots.  Cannot replicate this on every song but is happening frequently

What format are the songs?
I can't get this to happen with MP3, APE, APL, or MPC.
I've tried long (>7 minutes) and short (<2 minutes) songs.

Hmmm, I can't get any of the symptoms you are having.

Have you had a look at any of the tracks with an MP3 diag tool like MP3Utility?

Can you reproduce the buffer error message?  Does switching playback output settings make any difference?

Thanks.

This morning I switched to ASIO for a while with no problems and then back to Direct Sound.  No issues for the last hour so things seem to be in the clear.  Maybe switching ouput modes kick started Direct Sound!

I have had similar probs with build 279, which I just installed about an hour ago. I made no changes in my setup of any kind.

Playing only vbr hi mp3s from a "random" smartlist. 21k files in playlist.

Behavior: Start play, MC plays a song or 2 and hangs after cutting the last 5 secs off the song. Hit play/pause a couple of times and pb resumes with the next song but with the cover art of the previous song. After a minute or 2 of playing again, MC just stutters and I get the following error message: "Internal play buffer error: playing buffer accumulated too much spent data".

I have gone back build 276 and everything (except the ATI RW mentioned in another thread) is ok.

I think this will be fixed next build.  It only affected DirectX playback.

Thanks.
