Recent Playing Now's
« on: May 31, 2005, 12:30:43 pm »

Hi all, I'm new to Media Center, but I'm finding it very good. I seem to have lost the Recent Playing Now's group of playlists. I tried to get them back by adding a smart list to that group and it has appeared with one recent playing now in it, but it doesn't update any more with new playing now lists.

Can anyone tell me how to reset it to get back the original behaviour?

Correct!

May I add that you sometimes need to force a refresh (i.e. by pushing F5) to make the Recent Playing Now's visible. It would be nice if that were an automatic update.

Thanks, Marko and Dutch Peter. I see how it works now.

That's great, and the best thing is I automatically see these playlists on my MP101 without having to do anything else.

I find myself using the Recent Playing Now feature all the time with Theater View on my HTPC. As the PC is only ever put into standby mode (and MC is not normally shutdown and re-started) I can accumulate quite a few days worth of Playing Now lists in this special playlist. With Theater View espeically, this is a must because there's really no other "remote only" way of retrieving or saving playlists you build "on-the-fly".

The problem I've always had with this playlist though is that its content is sorted numerically for a given day rather than by time which makes finding items very difficult, eg,

<date> 1:02pm
<date> 3:22pm
<date> 4:22pm
<date> 11:39am
<date> 11:55am

instead of

<date> 11:39am
<date> 11:55am
<date> 1:02pm
<date> 3:22pm
<date> 4:22pm

Thanks.

The "recent playing now's" group is cleared, removed, gone each time you close MC.

I'm not complaining, marko, but this doesn't happen here: I've closed MC11 several times today and it's still listing Playing Nows from yesterday and today. Other times, though, it doesn't list previous Playing Nows.

Clear Playing Now on exit, This can be turned on and off.

I  can't remember what default is.

I don't think that setting has any bearing on the "recent playing nows" playlist group, does it?

I need to get to work so don't have the time to test. Will do in the morning if no-one else has in the meantime.
