MAC MP3 CDs will not play - help please :-)
« on: June 06, 2005, 01:15:07 pm »

Hi

I have been sent two CD's with MP3 music (about 7 albums on each) from a friend in Australia. They have been created on a MAC via iTunes. If I put them in my Hi-Fi (Bose Lifestyle 35) they play fine, although without titles on the display.
However, if I put them in my PC , MC will show the album folder names but says the folders are empty. Does anyone have any ideas? - I presume I have a PC & MAC compatability issue, but would quite like a workround so I can get the music on MC

Thanks!!!!!

Can you see the files with Windows Explorer? Do the files have .mp3 filename extensions?

Go to Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced Settings. Change the settings to show everything: hidden files, contents of system folders, protected operating system files and extensions for known file types. Does that change anything?

Do you have any tool that can show the session info and file system used on the discs, e.g. Nero Burning Rom?

Hi

Still nothing in the folders even when set to show all.

Have now used Roxio Creator to see session info - 1 track @ 584 MB written on the CD, no other info shown.

Cheers for your help so far

I suspect illegal filenames or a filesystem problem. Strange that your Bose can play them. I would check the discs with a Mac and try to burn the files to standard ISO 9660 format discs using short 8.3 filenames. Do you happen to know any Mac users?

Of course they will. They'll love to help the poor PC user with their all mighty Macs.  ;D

At least a Mac program named Toast have ISO burning options. You could ask if they have it.
