What Happened to MD5 Hash Generator for Duplicates?
« on: July 27, 2005, 04:41:43 pm »

Previously, someone -- I'm pretty sure King Sparta -- developed a Hash generator that worked superbly in detecting duplicate files despite file name differences.

I can no longer find it at his website, nor much reference to it in these forums.  Was there a problem with it, or is there a better alternative that people use?

Thanks for your help.

I took it off line

did not like how it worked,  it did a MD5 on a mp3 but not on the raw data

it would be better if i could take a media file and convert it to raw data like a wav file then check it.

or a wave form type ID

I do not have the tools to do that, some of them cost too much money.

Though not ideal, it still did a better job of looking for dupes than by title &/or name.
Thanks for letting me know what happened.
