How do you use artist field and album artist on compilations

Artist - Various Artists
Artist - John Doe

or

Album Artist - Various Artists
Album Artist - John Doe

in propeties there are two fields one is artist and one is album artist what do you place in both fields for a compilation cd after you are done riping

ok I think i got figure out in artist putthe artist name in album artist put various artist is that right

In Field Artist i put the artist name
In Field Album i put Album Name
In field artist album i leave in blanc

In MJ9 there is no Album Artist Field.
